Solent Guild of Wood Carvers and Sculptors

Major Projects

Every so often members of the Guild collaborate to produce a larger composite work. Here are a couple of examples of these projects:

Millenium Project

There are eight individual plaques representing each area of the Borough.

Trafalgar Celebration

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Trafalgar we presented a composite plaque to the Portsmouth Dock Yard.

A relief bust of Admiral Lord Nelson is central,

The other four relief panels depict the progress of naval warfare from the 'Victory' and a cannon to a T45 Destroyer and a rocket launcher.

The wood is English Oak (Quercus robur)

The work is displayed in the arcade outside the Naval Museum in the Dock Yard.
